I’m a Truckdriver of over 30 years and came into town last night on the 16th to pickup at Sun-Pine Corporation this morning and as I came into the center of town I was flabbergasted with the Christmas Carnival taking place in the town square. From the Caramel Apple trailer to the Ferris Wheel it was simply amazing. Your town and community should be very proud of the effort put forth during the most Magical time of the year! Some locals may not understand and appreciate the effort that goes into something like that but as a visitor to your town, I DO! God Bless You All and May you have a very Merry Christmas!

My name is Barry Landry. I am the Director of Communications for the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism. My wife, Wendy, and I made a stop in Canton on the way up to Memphis this past Monday. Hard to believe we had never ventured off the interstate to check in out before seeing as we pass by it twice a year and she loves the movie “A Time to Kill.” I was hoping to find a little inspiration for my final paper in my CDME journey. So this trip we made it a point to build time into our travels to make the stop. We are glad we did!

I want to commend the lady at the desk in your tourism office who not only welcomed us, but also got to know a little about what brought us. I wish I could remember her name right now. She walked us down to meet Charlotte Wilson who was doing some cleaning in the movie museum. Charlotte was fantastic! She took the time to show my wife all the offices, rooms, and props used as part of the sets for the movie, giving us a local’s perspective on what it was like while the crew was in town. She also went through everything related to “My Dog Skip” and all the back stories of Willie Morris, even the history of Canton and many of the building in the square. Charlotte also made sure we had directions to some of the other homes just off the square used in the movies. We made sure to check those out as well.

On the walk back to our car at your office, we talked about the Christmas festival which we have been wanting to attend. After hearing her describe it, we are going to have to find time to get up there to see it.

I just wanted to let you know what a tourism treasure your staff and Charlotte are. They all made our visit to the city beyond what we could have expected. Canton has a fan in us… and we will encourage friends to make the trip as well.

Had a great time at the Christmas Festival! A must-see and great family activity!

The Victorian Christmas in Canton 2013, WOW! It was amazing and beautiful. First time to ever go but will not be the last! LOVED the Animation I, II, & III displays! We all enjoyed riding the horse & buggy, the fire engine, the trolley, and the carousel. Took family pic with Santa and enjoyed Mrs. Claus reading The Polar Express and even we got a pic with her. The kids parade was too cute with Superman, Gingerbread Men, Raggedy Ann, Christmas Tree, Princess & Sparky! Again more pics, LOL! The staff members were super nice and wished us a Merry Christmas. A perfect evening in such a wonderful town!
